The Scales of Karma - In and Out of the Womb
Once a pregnant woman and her husband visited a doctor with her 3 year old daughter.
“We are not ready for a second child yet”, she told to the doctor.
“Okay”, said the doctor. “Which child do you want to kill?”, he asked.
The mother was shaken by the doctor’s question.
“What!?”, the mother of two was unable to speak further.
“It’s safer for you to kill the elder one”, the doctor said in his attempt to pass a strong message.
Human beings have always lived in two realms - the physical world governed by natural and universal laws, and the social world governed by man-made laws. While the laws of nature are impartial, consistent, and unbending, human laws are often shaped by convenience, cultural conditioning, and political debate. This divergence creates deep contradictions—none more controversial than the way societies treat life itself. Take, for instance, the issue of abortion. If a mother ends her pregnancy within the boundaries of what human law permits, she is not considered a criminal. Her choice may even be legally protected. But if the same mother takes the life of that child after birth, it becomes a crime of the highest order—murder. The child inside the womb is, in the eyes of human law, not equal to the child outside it. Yet, in the eyes of universal law, of karma, or of the natural order, can such a distinction really exist?
Man-made laws are a reflection of society’s current values, fears, and compromises. They are not absolute but relative—what is lawful in one country may be unlawful in another. The definitions of crime, justice, and morality are often rewritten according to time, place, and circumstance. This flexibility gives societies room to evolve, but it also exposes their inconsistencies. Murder is condemned because it violates the principle of sanctity of life. But the same principle is conveniently suspended when the subject is an unborn child. The reasoning is that life before birth can be defined differently—sometimes as "potential" rather than "actual." This definition is crafted to suit human convenience, not universal consistency.
Unlike human laws, the law of karma does not shift with opinion, culture, or political convenience. Karma is impartial and exact. Every action carries its own consequence, regardless of whether society approves of it or not.
From a karmic perspective, taking a life is taking a life—whether it occurs before birth or after. The repercussions flow not from human definitions but from the universal law of cause and effect. Karma is not selective, and it does not bend for debates or parliaments.
By framing laws that separate the killing of a child inside the womb from killing outside the womb, humanity demonstrates its desire to control reality. But in truth, these divisions are illusions. They may protect a person from human courts, but they do not shield anyone from the court of nature, or the silent balance of karma.
This is not merely about abortion versus murder. It is about the broader human tendency to redefine truth for convenience. We build laws that soothe our conscience rather than align with universal principles. We rename destruction as "progress," exploitation as "development," and indulgence as "freedom." But the universe remains unmoved. Its laws remain the same.
The question then is not whether something is legal, but whether it is aligned with the truth of existence. Human law may pardon, but karma never forgets.
It’s Neeraj (नीरज) - Not Niraj… Period!!
I was named Neeraj — a name chosen with love and purpose by my father. It’s not just a name; it’s a story, a legacy, and a reflection of who I strive to be. The name traces its roots to the pen name of the renowned Hindi poet, Gopaldas Saxena "Neeraj", whose words and spirit continue to inspire generations.

| A Picture captured on my way to Joshimath |
In Devanagari, it's spelled as नीरज, with a deliberate and graceful elongation in the syllable “नी” — pronounced "Nee". This elongation is not just linguistic; it symbolizes something far deeper for me: longevity, persistence, and continuity. These are qualities I strive to embody in life, work, and relationships.
The literal meaning of Neeraj is lotus — a flower that blooms in muddy waters. It represents beauty, clarity, and resilience rising from challenging circumstances. Knowing this, you can imagine why it hurts a little every time someone reduces it to “Niraj” or “निरज” — altering both its meaning and sound.
Spelling, and especially pronouncing, proper nouns correctly is not a trivial detail. It’s a sign of respect. Names are not just labels; they are identities, cultural markers, and often carry profound meanings or personal stories. When someone corrects you on the pronunciation or spelling of their name, they’re not being difficult — they’re simply asking to be seen and acknowledged as they truly are.
For me, this has meant regularly correcting people — in schools, workplaces, documents, and conversations. And while it can feel tedious, I see it as an important practice. I believe setting the right expectation from the beginning — by correcting mispronunciations or misspellings early — is a good habit. It’s a simple but powerful way of establishing mutual respect. In professional settings, getting someone’s name right is often the first act of trust-building. Whether it's the start of a conversation, a meeting, or a business relationship — names matter. Taking the effort to spell and pronounce them correctly sends a clear message: I see you, and I respect who you are.
So no, it’s not “Niraj.” It’s Neeraj — नीरज — a name given with intention, and one I carry with pride.
The broken spine of the Indian media and the thoughts of our 14 year old
Virtually Social...
Coming back to the point to where the wheel of time is currently pointing to, I notice that there is a drastic change to the way kids and people at a broader scale network and socialize. Keeping afar from the non-creamy layered sections of the society, to whom the word ‘socializing’ is not more important than their daily bread and butter, a majority of the children from most of the prosperous families have been caught into the vicious trap of online socializing. They have built their own set of protocols and a common set of terminologies which they often use over the telephone and lately the Internet. Their world is set up over the ‘Tweets’ and ‘Scraps’ they write and post online. They have their own set of followers to whom they refer as ‘friends’. Friends follow their tweets everywhere; some real good ones care to comment on them too. A person’s display picture on the social networking website is the face of the individual in the virtual society of online networking and all that he has inked down in his display profile is known to be his personality. Online Scrapbook, well, is something that you need not even carry, rather it follows you wherever you go - more the number of entries you have in it, the more social animal you are supposed to be. I remember the days when we carried our scrapbooks in our school to collect the autographs of our teachers and friends. But then, it was the way we did it as technologically backward kids. Times have changed and so is the way people maintain their stuff. Technology was just invented to make our life easier, wasn’t it?“I have just created an online profile and have started adding new friends, some of them to whom I already know, some whom I do not know and some I haven’t even ever met. I send out messages to them periodically, express my thoughts, disgusts and joy with them. I do not really bother if they really understand me but it makes me happy to have so many people who are always available to me to share my feelings. I also keep on following other bots on the Internet and read their thoughts and feelings. I kept on doing this for days, for months and for years. I realize that I’ve started living in a virtual world of feelings. The very next day I come across an application that can very well be embedded into the portal I use to socialize, I can send out hugs, kisses and slaps. I also have an option to publish my actions within my network. Can it be any easier than this? I am damn sure not. All my actions are powered by binary codes and they absolutely have no restrictions. That is something I must be proud of. One fine day, something out of this world, made me realize that I have become so mechanical. Why do these online bots fail to please me when I am real sad, soothe my pain when I am ill or pacify my loneliness when I am in need of a real good company? Sometimes, I wish I had a chance to pinch the cheeks of a newborn of my best friend, wish I could have a chance to pat the back of my old friend for his promotion and wish I could share a cup of coffee with a friend who had not been in touch for ages. I am a human and sometimes I hate to be one. I have started feeling lonely. I see nothing but a notebook screen that has been creating an illusion of the world I am living in. I realize that although I have my friends and dear ones living in my computer, all that I am missing is their personal touch.”
Isn’t that something you might have ever felt? Technology has always been man’s best friend, a tool that has been shaping our lives, a boon to innovate the way we think and do our work. Online socializing is just another example adding to it. The globe is getting smaller and smaller
each coming day. For years, technology has been giving newer dimensions to the way we perform our things in the real life. I really love the beauty of several of the social networking websites over the Internet – they almost can be epitomized as a visualization of the real life. Ironically, although it is visualization, at the same time it is virtual, irreplaceable and not substitutable to the real world. The tools available online are just assisting us to keep your ends tied to your contacts. We live in a dynamic world. I call it as the real world. Let us refer the technologically visualized world in the social networking websites as the virtual world and the society therein as the virtual society. Talking about the real world, we live in a society that is formed of laws, ethics, behavior, relationships and numerous such aspects that I believe cannot even be visualized in a single go. The virtual world that can be surfed today on the Internet is actually not even a smallest fraction of the real world. I do not want to discuss the algorithms, the logic involved and other technicalities pertaining to the famous networking websites available today, rather just want to drag your attention towards some of the most serious limitations these websites possess. Ungoverned access to pornographic content, unethical hacking into restricted information, illegal dating services are to name a few. In no manner, this is a true visualization of the real world that I know and understand. The Internet claims that social networking is in the phase of evolution and would be the future of upcoming technological advances. Evolution is a never ending and an ever improving process but there are doubtlessly no substitutes to the basic elements that constitute to life.
One of my favorite bots from the virtual world, also my best friend in the real world says – “I love my computer because all my friends live in it”. Now that could sound funny in the first read, but this is something which needs a second thought when you login to any social networking website the next time.
The World Has Ended! - 21st December, 2012
Pune, India
http://shindeneeraj.blogspot.com
This blog-post title refers to the newspaper headline which none of us might ever read in the morning of December 22nd, 2012 - just in case the numerous myths that are emphasizing the theories of the Doomsday are ought to be true. Unfortunately yes, the world is prophesied to come to an end on 21st December, 2012. The belief is backed up by quite a number of reasons - scientific, religious, geological, geographical, astronomical and so on.I have been digging and analyzing the probable reasons that could possibly bring us towards the end of the world:
The Sun Theory: On December 21, 2012, the sun rises on the dark rift of the center of the Milky Way which is referred to as a black hole. In the last five years, the western astronomers have in fact discovered that there is in fact an enormous black hole at the center of our Milky Way galaxy. The Earth will be in exact alignment with the Sun and the center of our Milky Way galaxy, a galactic event which takes place only once every 25,800 years! No one knows what effect this extraordinary alignment will have on our planet, but the Mayans believe it would be terrible!
The Shift in Earth Poles (Polar Shift Theory): NASA believes the Polar Shift is due in the year 2012. The entire mantle of the earth would shift in a matter of days or perhaps hours during such galactic events, causing positions of the North and South Pole to change, further causing worldwide disaster, earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, and other natural disasters.
The Magnetic Field: The Earth’s magnetic field will reverse, which further supports the Polar Shift Theory besides the prediction of Merlin that also suggests a polar shift. NASA predicts that during 2012, as the Sun reaches the end of the current 11-year sunspot cycle, it will reverse its own magnetic poles, which may further amplify the effects of magnetic field on earth as harmful charged particles blast away from the sun (also known as solar storming)
The Global Warming: This theory suggests that the real cause of climate changes, volcanic activities, and intensification of the seismic activity etc. is the planet Eris’s getting closer to our solar system once in 3600 years, named as 2003-UB-313, which ultimately results in the melting of the glaciers! This Planet Eris or so called “Nibiru” was first observed in October 21, 2003, using 1.22 m Oschin telescope at Mount Palomar Observatory (California). It is said to have passed between Mars and Jupiter some 7200 years ago, which most probably had triggered the cataclysm “Noah’s flood” and again this will be at the close proximity to Earth between 2010 and 2012, which can cause massive melting of the glaciers, causing huge tidal waves and ultimately, the return of the Noah’s flood!
Nostradamus's Prediction: According to the certain algorithms of Bible code, a meteor, asteroid, comet or an UFO (unidentified flying object) will soon collide with the Earth.
The Maya Calendar: The Mayan civilization is believed to be the ancient experts of time and had immense obsession to time keeping. Their calendar were so incredibly precise that its interlocking time scales of lunar, solar, and planetary cycles could accurately predict solar/lunar eclipses thousands of years into the future. Mysteriously, the Mayan calendar has no trace for the time beyond 21st December, 2012.
The Big Bang Theory: Just as the mystery of Big Bang theory continues, something natural or super-natural will take up the responsibility to bring the world to an end.
Scientific Experiments: European Scientists have been building the world's largest particle accelerator. It is a 27 kilometer long tunnel designed to smash atoms together to find out what makes the Universe tick. However, the mega-gadget has caused serious concern, with some scientists suggesting that it's properly even a bad idea to turn it on in the first place. They're predicting all manner of deadly results, including mini black holes. So when this machine is fired up for its first serious experiment in 2012, the world could be crushed into a super-dense blob the size of a basketball.
The World War: Do I need to explain the consequences? Probably not! The world has seen the devastating impacts of the nuclear power. The history speaks it all.
Nevertheless, if it really happens, then I must say it would be something far more than mere historic. Cos' history makes sense only when there is Present. If the doomsday is ought to exist, nothing won't!
Legalization of Homoeroticism Is a Ridicule!

The only probable difference that I could think of between heaven and hell is based on the fact - what dominates the rest! If the angels dominate its heaven and if the demons do, it’s hell. But, we live in a world that’s afar from the both. A place where we venerate the good and condemn the not-so-good, encourage all things that are sane, rational and just natural. We make laws just to ensure everything that deviates from such expectations are spotted out and are brought to justice. The same applies to homosexuality.
The section 377 of the Indian penal code just ensured the cultural, behavioral and biological sanity among the people until last week when it was irrationally decriminalized. Now does that really could be a modern-age law which could bring some good to the society? It is a hard fact that gay and lesbian sex has been prevalent since ages, but it has never found a legal consent due to its ill-bred roots. The Delhi high court verdict that decriminalized this law has certainly ruined the emotional, ethical, moral and cultural sentiments of the nation. I do accept that in a country like India where people from every caste, religion and creed live together, minorities do exist. And they exist in various forms including religious, occupational, physical or economical. But it is irrational to accept that minorities would be sexual. It is unfair to differentiate people by the so called sexual preferences.
I go to a shopping mall and have the right to choose the color and design of my shirt – that’s where preferences come into picture. If I develop a feeling to wake up at night and stab a random person on the street would not be a ‘preference’ in the first place. Though I might enjoy killing people, am I entitled to be called a representative of the serial-killer minority? Certainly not! The only reason being, although I enjoy my preference, I am causing harm to my fellow citizens and society as a whole. The same thing applies to the ill-bred sexual behavior. Bad habits do provide pleasure for some - the way consuming alcohol, smoking and gambling do! Although the homosexual couple might enjoy things they do, the fact to be noticed here is how positively the legalization of this behavior going to help the generations to come. Certainly, the future parents would not like to see their children entering puberty having a legal right of choice of being a straight, gay or a lesbian. Unfortunately, if that does happen then our glorious culture will be at stake.
Thinking from a plain scientific point of view, sex is a mechanism by virtue of which sexual reproduction is brought about in most of the living organisms. This has been happening for ages and right since the time evolution began. However, a few years later a few organisms like Dolphins and Humans started performing it for pleasure. Nature encourages vaginal sex since it is the only natural way by which male and female gametes are brought together. Now, looking out for sexual pleasures by means of unnatural ways is something that is deviating the natural trend. This, though not exactly a disease, is a psychiatric situation being developed during the onset of puberty. Nobody is a born homosexual. Cos' then you still require a heterosexual couple to raise a homosexual kid.
It is unfortunate that reputed newspapers have been portraying these topics of 'negative sexuality' in a positive manner. It’s shocking to read the newspaper columns supporting the celebrations over the law amendment. If psychiatry fails to provide an answer to homosexuality, it is a subject of medical research rather than a debate. The law was all fine cos' it was setup by a set of people who had a proper mindset and a constructive, natural outlook towards things. Stop quibbling over stuff that do not have a proper base. Stop relating such ill-bred habits to your fundamental rights. No human rights were violated by the law. It is rather disheartening that the government is much concerned in dealing with petty issues of this kind rather than dealing with issues of some grave significance like economic upliftment of the poor, the global warming or the ongoing economic crisis – to name a few.
Whats wrong in IT?
Everything here looks fine, sounds great. But it’s not that easy owning a dignity and a handsome remuneration. There is a lot more to be analyzed that is hidden behind the scene. I have one of
my roomies whom I meet only at the weekends. Just because he comes beyond 2 am and leaves at 7 am. We sleep in the same room but never see each other. Sometimes I meet him in the food-court or in the elevator. A weary body, a sleepless face with ungraceful eyes is what he seems to me. But he looks to be so contented by his work. He thinks this is his ladder to fulfill his dream, the dream to go onsite. Probably the difference in the IST and EST working hours force software engineers to wait and work for more than 14 hours a day. But that is not the only reason for long stretched working hours that I could think of. Employees are many times forced to work just to keep promises made to the customers. After all it is not only the customer satisfaction which the industry expects but it’s the ‘customer delight’ what it want for which it can make its employees walk an extra mile. In most of the cases this extra mile implies long working hours. One of the persons hosting the technical excellence awards ceremony, while presenting the best employee award remarked, “He is the most excellent, diligent and hardworking persons in the company. When ever you come to office you will find him toiling on his laptop. He is the most deserving nominee for the award.”
Words like these encourage the practice of working till late hours and weaken the morale of other employees. Here I do not state that rewarding excellence is not a good practice but it does not necessarily mean that working beyond usual office hours means more work is done. Thus an excellent job done by an employee who works only for normal 8 hours a day becomes dim. I admit the fact that not all men are equal. Different men have different understanding and grasp over things. An employee who is not good in documentation might be a very good coder or vice versa. It’s not for how long you work but how good you work in your usual official time slot. If the company encounters an improper time estimation or lack of sufficient time for the promises being made to the customer, it should not make its employees force work beyond normal working hours. Here, the art of saying “No” would solve great problems and the current project statistics can be very well used to reframe the man hours required to quote estimates for future projects of similar nature.
The sector is rapidly growing with its diversified roots all over India or rather the world. It is quite natural that you will not get a job in Software Company in the same city where your family resides. A huge population working in this sector prefers to leave their homes and live in houses which are quite far from their dear ones. It is a matter of great prestige for their parents for their child being working in this respectable white-collared field. So much so that they don’t know what they are really missing in this course. Most people or rather colleagues I come across everyday seem so lost in their work that hardly could they realize that there is a world beyond their cubicle and projects. You ask them how a particular issue was resolved. They know it but never would they be able to answer questions that are irrelevant to their domain. The stress levels are so high that they seem lost in their own cave all the time. Neither could they enjoy their favorite sport nor a movie. Several stress management sessions and workshop prove futile over this. Most of the software engineers are normally below 25 and they could tolerate any kind of mental stress and physical stress caused to them. But the effects are not immediate. Senior officials have reportedly found suffering from physical disorders, back ailments and mental fatigue. A bulging stomach is not at all a new thing in them. It is simply because not even 10 percent of them ever think of things like exercising and physical fitness. Asked to most of them the excuse they give is that of heavy work load and busy time schedules.
No matter whatever you gain here, it is for sure that you loose more than you gain. After all we work for our betterment and a healthy future. We all are professionals, but just ask the human within you. How much time you devote for your family, to your hobbies, to your friends, to your girlfriend? You are someone’s son, someone’s brother may be someone else lifetime asset. Work, but do not loose your identity. I am happy that company has started analyzing employees who are in on time and who are out on time but still I wonder the foolproof ness of this initiative. It is not only the customers’ satisfaction but also employees’ welfare that a Software Company should be concentrating at. These are some serious issues and need to be handled in its initial phase before they could develop deep roots in our lives and make it a hell.
Just give a thought!
The war between emotions and responsibilities
It was raining heavily outside. Dark clouds gathered in the sky and nature was in its ominous best. I took a break from my work and went to the pantry to grab a cup of coffee. I had a sip and went near the window to see the rain pouring down heavily outside the glass structure. I was inside our huge office building, unruffled by even the fierceness of the nature. Through the heavy transparent glass, I could see a small girl trying to hold on to her umbrella which the wind was snatching away from her. I felt sorry for the girl, and was happy that I was not in a similar pathetic situation. Yes. I take pride for the fact that I am a software engineer. . I have everything which a common man would envy; money, status, respect, you name it I have it. I always wanted to be software professional and here I am, working for one of the best firms in the world. But then, am I really happy? Now, I could see an imprint of my palm on the other glass window, through which I reminisced my past, basked in the warmth of the sun shine.
My childhood was so much of fun. I vividly remember those rainy days, when I hugged my mother tightly during sleeping listening to all the stories told by her. Now, I have a big house here, but then it is just a house, not a home. My parents are pretty far away from me now. I have a cell phone to talk to them everyday, but then I really miss those dinners which I had with my family everyday. I could easily afford to taste all the different cuisines these days, but the best of food there, lack the love and affection which is present in the food prepared by my mother.
I threw a lavish party for my colleagues for my birthday, but then they would never replace the birthdays when my friends secretly brought a cake and at the end, half of the cake would have ended up on my face. The couple of hundred bucks that u save for a long period just to give a treat to your friends in the road side chat shop can never give the pleasure even after spending a few thousand bucks these days.
The scene of me crying and refusing to have dinner on the day when I fought with my best friend came to my mind. Today, she has gone far away from me, taking away my love and with it my life, but I am sitting and coding here with a false smile on my face. Everyday I meet new people, but then I long ceased to make a new friend.
It’s true that I have a lot of things now. I have a nice bed, but no time to sleep. Lots of money, but no friends to spend it with. The latest designer clothes, but a worn out body. Quite a few to flirt, but no one to love. Awards for technical excellence, but no reward for the crave for peaceful ambience. A confident demeanor, but a reluctant and apathetic mind. Full of rain, but no sunshine even in the farthest distance.
Now, I could see the small girl on the road enjoying in the rain with her umbrella firmly in her grip. She might not have all the comforts which I have, but then she has the innocence and fun which I lost a long time back. I have decided to come out of this false fantasy, even if it is at the expense of losing the tap of the software engineer. I am going to again enjoy my life. I am going to go out in the rain and play with the small kid now. I removed my tie, and went near my computer to shut it down. Just then, I saw a new mail alert in my mail box. I slowly opened outlook and I found a message from my manager with an attachment saying that there was a critical defect in the code and I have to fix it soon. I convinced myself that I am not going to get bogged down again by these pressures and stick to my decision. I ignored the mail and went to the rest room. After a couple of minutes, the software engineer in me came out, his shirt tucked in with the perfect tie knot, sat before the computer, and started typing,
XYZ,
I am looking into the defect and will send the patch files before EOD.
Regards,
Me.
This is a war! The war between emotions and responsibilites. Each one of us needs to tackle such situations oftenly. But choosing among the two - emotions and career, give preference to career. By this I do not mean to say that you have to be a professional all the time. Each one of us has a child within and there has to be. But never restrict yourself to just one aspect of life.
Do love your work but at the same time do remember yourself, your family, your friends and your feelings. They are always with you. After all these things denote your identity. Life goes on and so do your work. Keep enjoying every moment as it comes across. That’s life!
The SMART policy
As a software person I would explain it my way. Project Managers and Team Leaders often keep telling their sub-ordinates about different ways to keep a track of their work. Many of these ways include some automated systems and tools. These do assist them all throught their project development life cycle. But there is a smart way to manage things using the SMART policy. It is an acronym for :
S : Sensible ----> See that everything you do is sensible to the context
M: Measurable-> See to it that the work can be measured
A: Attainable --> Ensure that the work can be accomplished
R: Relevent ---> Check whether the work is relevent to the context
T: Timebound--> Have a track to time
The SMART policy can be generalized to any of your daily activities. I regard it as a powerful tool to manage and control things.

Nicholas Berg - The Beheading
He is an American Civilian who got his head chopped off as a revenge for american abuse to Iraqi prisoners. There were hardly any tv news channels and news web-sites that didn't carry this news. The clandestine came to light when one of the terrorist group posted this barbarous movie clip on its web-site. This was followed by tons of moaning messages and reactions.
A few days passed and columns in newspapers flashed with the headlines Nicholas Berg is alive. Heck! The articles depicted that the beheading video was a fake one. It's a story and we have free press and all that and they have a good case for publishing the story in the first place. I would never agree with it. If it was a political stunt, then it is a big shame!
India Shining?
BJP, as I thought was the sole political party that possessed the potential to abolish the reign of the glorious hereditary peers of the Gandhis in Indian politics. But to my dismay, the party suffered a great failure. Enforcement of unpopular policies and laws like spending crores on advertising campaigns, support for the Hinduist ideology despite the fact that Indian constitution favours secularism which are quite blatantly against the will of the people are some of the leading causes for its failure.
I really do not understand the need to devote a fat sum in advertising campaigns conveying the splendid days their government have accomplished in their reign which is in total controversy to the present India. The BJP government sang songs of prosperous and wealthy farmers riding in his own vehicle and that of youngsters rushing to school whilst half of the nation is still striving hard to fetch their daily bread and butter, farmers are still commiting sucides due to lack of capital and innumerable kids still devoid of primary education. Thats ridiculous! The masses felt good or not is a mystery but the government was quite successful to hide their impotency and inefficiency but which was shortlived.
Mumbaikar?
Tuesday, 1 JULY, 2003
NEERAJ SHINDE
Mumbaikar - I am literally confused of what this word means! Does it refer to all those who live in Mumbai city or to those who call themselves the sons of the soil. Well, this was never regarded as an issue until past few years. The city has experienced several changes in the past few decades and today the situation is such that it can be regarded as the financial capital of the country. The glory of this city has made its every citizen proud and probably it is a common human tendency to try to own every thing that is glorious. This is what is happening to this city.Today, Mumbai is a dwelling place for people from all over the states in India. The city has provided shelter for all kinds of citizens and despite its ever growing population it never makes any of the dwellers (even the poorest of the poor) sleep empty stomach. Doesn't all this remind you of your mother? Analogously, Mumbai nurtures its every child in a similar fashion as your mother brought you up. The city never discriminated anyone.
When we at home fight with our brothers and sisters, the fight remains a dispute within the four walls but when we do so in the public, this dispute becomes an issue and fights transform into riots.
It is the duty of every citizen of Mumbai to safeguard the interest not only of himself but also of his fellow-citizens. Now, who is Mumbaikar? Obviously, a person who strives for the betterment of his city. Just try to think of it! How many of us bother when we throw rubbish on streets or when we just spit around the public places! Many of us don't even try to extend our hand when we try to throw the garbage in the dust-bins. We just play the stereos in our homes when the students next doors are preparing for their examinations. How far all this sound good? Preserving something is far more difficult than owning it and that is the moral to be noted.
